The company shared the launch date, which is scheduled for 8:30 PM IST, through a community post on their website. While they haven’t spilled all the details about its specs and features yet, OnePlus did talk about the design and battery performance.
This new watch, the OnePlus Watch 2, is the successor to the original OnePlus Watch that debuted in 2021. Unlike its predecessor, it will sport a stainless-steel chassis and sapphire crystal glass, making it more durable and stylish. It’ll be available in Black Steel and Radiant Steel colors, promising a mix of elegance and toughness.
OnePlus is also boasting about the impressive battery life of the Watch 2, claiming it can last up to 100 hours in “full Smart Mode.” This beats competitors like the Apple Watch Series 9, setting a high bar for battery endurance in the smartwatch market.
Interest in the device seems to be high, as over 1,500 pre-reserve passes have already been sold out ahead of the event. However, you can still secure your device by pre-reserving it for Rs 99 on the official OnePlus India website. Plus, those who do will get a Rs 1,000 discount on the watch and a free pair of Bullets Wireless Z2 ANC earphones.
While the exact features are still under wraps, leaks suggest that the OnePlus Watch 2 will feature a 1.43-inch AMOLED display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset. As for the operating system, it’s expected to run on Wear OS, but whether it’ll be Wear OS 3 or Wear OS 4 remains unclear.
Excitement for the OnePlus Watch 2 isn’t just limited to India, as a landing page on Amazon confirms its global availability alongside the official launch. The first generation was priced at Rs 16,999, and the new one is expected to either cost slightly less to attract consumers or maintain the same price. It’ll be interesting to see how OnePlus convinces users to make the upgrade.
